Washington County is home to 23 covered bridges which is one of the most of any county within the Commonwealth. Washington County has embraced covered bridges complete with a Covered Bridge Festival that features eight bridges in Washington and neighboring Greene Counties. Washington County also has actively perserved damaged bridges returning them to use or moving them to a new home. |
Mingo Creek County Park - Home of the Covered Bridge Festival and two of the county's bridges.
Ebenezer Church Bridge - Although this bridge was moved to Mingo Creek County Park in 1977, this bridge sits as if it was always there.
Henry Bridge - The second bridge within Mingo Creek Park is one of the author's personal favorites.
Elsewhere | |
Sawhill Bridge - This 90 year old bridge was damaged in 2004 by the remnants of Hurricane Ivan. In 2005, a nearly $500,000 restoration project will return it to use.
